New York, NY. March 5, 2006 . . .

Box-a-thon fields an ALL STAR team.

"They're all on board," said Suzanne Swift, President of SpecSimple.com, creator of the annual Design Literature and Sample Box-a-thon. "The AIA, ASID, IIDA and SMPS have joined us to support design students and the environment."

Now in its seventh year, the SpecSimple.com Box-a-Thon has evolved into an event that everyone can get excited about. Students get great new materials each year. Design schools receive scholarship money to spend on upgrading their resources. Design resource librarians at firms throughout the tri-state area get guilt free spring-cleaning and have an opportunity to win prizes donated by industry manufacturers. And dealers, manufacturers and their reps have the opportunity to support their favorite A&D firms.

The biggest names in architecture and design: Butler Rogers Baskett, Gensler, Hillier, Perkins + Will, SOM and many others, will be rolling up their sleeves on April 11-13, packing up boxes filled with product literature and samples they no longer need. An army of furniture dealers (including Arenson, BFI, Benhar Interiors, CFT, Empire, GOE, and WB Wood NY) will collect the boxes and deliver them to FIT, Kean College, New York Institute of Technology, The New York School of Interior Design, Parsons, Pratt and SVA.

To cheer the designers on, Manufacturers, representatives and others are invited to sponsor each box packed up starting at $25 a box. All money raised goes to scholarships for design students to help maintain their schools' libraries. Firms who collect the most money from their "Box-a-Thon" sponsors are eligible to win prizes. "The prizes are terrific," says Suzanne Swift, President of SpecSimple.com. "Arcadia, Bergamo, Edelman Leather, Haworth, Humanscale, and others have donated some really great prizes to reward our top boxers."

"Today's design students are better prepared to be tomorrow's business leaders because of the support of SpecSimple.com," says Lovejoy Duryea, Chairman of the Interior Design Department at the School of Visual Arts. Ms. Duryea also praises SpecSimple.com's pioneering efforts, because their "scholarship sets a trend and raises the bar for the industry."

The Box-a-thon will be held April 11th through April 13th, 2006.
