FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York City. SpecSimple.com's GO GREENER Solid Surfacing event at the Pallas NYC Showroom brought designers and manufacturers together to discuss how to make solid surfacing products more sustainable and more specifiable.

Suzanne Swift, President of SpecSimple.com and the evening's moderator, presented a modified life cycle analysis designed especially for GO GREENER. In research done prior to the event, Spec Simple surveyed 11 solid surfacing products and scored them on a series of sustainable attributes ranging from Environmental Product Declarations to recycled content. The winners? It was a tie! Both Dupont's Terra Collection and LG Hausys: Hi-Mac Eden Plus were declared Industry Leaders.

Key to the event was the opportunity for designers to talk directly with Manufacturers about their sustainable priorities. Swift suggested, "I'd like you to keep in mind the bigger picture. What you're doing here tonight, by giving your ideas and feedback directly to the manufacturers, will result in manufacturers developing increasingly sustainable products that you will want to specify."

“Spec Simple’s GO GREENER event was a great opportunity to get architects and product reps to have an open dialogue about sustainable design," said an enthusiastic Amanda Langweil, Director of Sustainability at Goshow Architects. "Being able to compare the different solid surface materials using Spec Simple’s lifecycle analysis chart allowed me to understand which material best met my sustainability needs. Also, sharing my sustainability priorities with the product reps will allow them to set future goals for how to make their products even more sustainable."

"Go Greener is a wonderful initiative that will definitely assist designers with sustainable product selection and provide manufacturers with valuable insight as to what those designers are looking for in those products." agreed Erica Godun from FXFOWLE.

"SpecSimple.com's GO GREENER, was a unique opportunity allowing direct dialog between manufacturers and A&D professionals" concurred Demir Hamami, President, Renewed Materials, Inc. "For us, as a conscientious manufacturer committed to sustainable practices, this interaction was extremely valuable. Based on the feedback we have received from the design professionals, we have gained clear and precise understanding as to market demands."

"We intend to hold a GO GREENER event for each product category," said Swift. "Based on our first event, I'm optimistic that the sustainable product landscape will look quite different one year from now."
